Community grows with small acts of kindness.
What does it mean to be a neighbor?
Our neighborhood doesn’t stop at the end of our driveway. The neighbor-engaging program, Hey Neighbor Neighbor Challenges, focus on creating meaningful connections, neighborly service, and purposeful surprises.
For a weekly challenge, text “Hey” to (509) 800-0966!
Quick, easy, fun, and nothing to worry about; we respect your privacy. We will never sell or share your information and the texts are only once a week.
Hey Neighbor Challenges are based on five main themes:
-
Connection
Reaching out is crucial to our well-being. Connect with your neighbors.
-
Service
Oftentimes, we get caught up in the busyness of our own lives. Finding practical ways to serve others is important, especially when other responsibilities leave limited free time. From donating food to a local food pantry during the holidays to or holding the door open for others at the Post Office, you can make a difference in the lives of your neighbors!
-
Engagement
Engagement with others around us takes intentionality. It's easy to skip the opportunities for a longer conversation, a handwritten note, or an encouraging text to brighten someone’s day. Reaching up to those older than us, out to those around our same age, and down to those younger than us can bring different perspectives and advice to help us navigate our own lives.
-
Surprise
Surprises can take many forms! It might mean sharing a funny meme, buying a neighbor coffee, or sending a card.
-
Vulnerability
Connecting with our neighbors requires openness about our lives. Whether it is a friend, workout partner, or a neighbor down the street, find someone you can trust to talk about life’s ups and downs.
